Say Something Communications (SSC) is a conference and event management firm located in Stittsville.  We are looking for a summer intern to join our team!

The person we hire will be responsible for administrative tasks related to our business (electronic filing, scanning, using templates to create letters, etc.), online research, writing some simple research papers, sourcing suppliers for our events, and managing our very busy mail box for proposals.

The successful candidate will work 25-30 hours per week, at a rate of $20 per hour. Most of this time will be a work from home opportunity, with some work occasionally scheduled at our office in Stittsville or in South Keys (Bank & Hunt Club area).

We are looking for:

We are a small business with clients across Canada and around the world. We are looking for someone with a ton of initiative, that will take this job and make it their own, that is able to work independently, often under very short timelines.

You must be very trustworthy, and able to provide three recent references, two of which must be professional.

You must have excellent administrative and organizational skills and be able to demonstrate some research experience. Your writing should be professional, error free, grammatically correct and you should be able to use plain language. We will ask for a writing sample during your interview, as this is an extremely important requirement of this job.

You must be flexible, and able to work from your home and occassionally one of our offices (either in Stittsville or South Keys).

In addition to knowing how to use Word, Excel and PowerPoint, you must also know how to use Drop Box, Google Drive, Google Sheets and Gmail. You should be comfortable with videoconferencing software as well, as we make frequent use of Zoom, Skype and WebEx.

You must be consistently available during your working hours, and able to immediately respond to emails and phone calls.

If you have experience in working with requests for proposals (RFPs) and requests for quotes (RFQs), please make this very clear on your application.

Preferable, but not mandatory:

It is preferable that you have some experience in organizing and managing events and that you are bilingual (writing and speaking); while these things are not essential, we may opt to give preference to someone that has this experience and ability.
